WHAT TO PACK FOR A HIKING TRIP

WHAT TO PACK FOR A HIKING TRIP

If you're preparing for your hike, know that I truly envy you 😍

There’s something special about laying everything on your bed, weighing each item, asking yourself: Do I really need this?
Packing a backpack isn’t just organization. It’s already part of the journey.

I remember preparing for my first Fisherman Trail in Portugal.
It was my first solo trail. I had one backpack for seven days, and every gram mattered; I would be carrying everything on my shoulders.

Yet when it came to the “bathroom essentials,” I struggled.

I bought travel-size bottles, transferred products into smaller containers, and purchased new “mini” cosmetics. But during the hike, I felt something uncomfortable: waste.

After just a few days, I realized I would only use half of those products. The rest would come back home half full or worse, end up thrown away.

Walking along the cliffs, between wind and sea salt, I started thinking there had to be a simpler way to approach minimalist travel packing.

What You Really Need in a Backpack for a Hiking Trip

When you travel for several days with only one backpack, everything must serve a purpose.

It has to be light. Versatile. Essential.

After that experience, I understood that when it comes to a minimalist beauty routine, you really only need three things:

  • something gentle to cleanse both hair and body
  • something that protects and nourishes after sun and wind
  • something that makes you feel at home, even when you’re far away

You don’t need to fill your backpack with plastic bottles.
You just need to choose wisely.

The Biggest Lesson I Learned About Traveling Light

A long walk teaches you to let go.

Not only of physical weight, but mental weight too.

Every extra item becomes a burden.
Every unnecessary object becomes noise.

What stayed with me most was that feeling of waste, buying cosmetics for a short trip, surrounded by plastic and leftover product I didn’t truly need.

It was there, in front of the vast ocean, that an idea began to take shape.

I hadn’t yet discovered solid shampoo for travel or solid cosmetics. But I understood the need: something compact, essential, long-lasting, and waste-free.

Something designed to help you travel light.

What I Would Pack Today for a 7-Day Hike

If I were packing today for a week-long hike with just a backpack, I would bring:

  • a gentle solid shampoo that lasts for months
  • a compact facial cleanser a solid shower bar that turns
  • a simple wash into a small sensory ritual

A few products.
Well made.
Plastic-free. Waste-free. Lightweight.

Because when you walk for days, you realize you don’t need much.

You need lightness. Inside and out.

Packing Your Backpack Is Already a New Beginning

Every hike is a reset.

You reduce. You choose. You let go.

And maybe that’s where we begin to live more consciously.

If you're preparing for your journey, I truly envy yo 💕✨
Enjoy every moment, from packing your backpack to taking your very first step on the trail.

And if you can, travel light. Even in the small things.

Ciao,
Laura 🤎
